GRADUATED LICENSING PROGRAM (AKA GLP)                       
 

Ocean Park Driving School offers a Driver Education Course approved by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia that can reduce the class 7 "N" license by six months and may count as two credits (high school grades). The program has seven overall goals:

Risk Avoidance - To develop knowledge, understanding and appreciation of risk avoidance as it relates to safe driving.

Driver Psychology - To develop knowledge, understanding and appreciation of safe and responsible driving attitudes.

Responsibilities - To develop knowledge. understanding and appreciation of safe driving responsibilities from the perspectives of the individual. other road users and the community.

Legal Responsibilities - To understand and comply with the rules of the road.

Safe Driving - To develop knowledge, skills and appreciation of driving safely.

Vehicle Performance - To develop knowledge and understanding of vehicle performance and how this contributes to safe driving.

Motor Skills - To develop competence in integrating the attitudes, skills and knowledge of safety and driving responsibilities into the correct execution of motor skills in traffic.

With the aid of videos and overhead projections the students also learn how to avoid the Head-on. Front and Rear End, Angle, Side-Swipe and Intersection collisions. Driving tactics, eye sighting techniques, in­ depth intersection theory (46% of all coIlisions occur at intersections), weather hazards, emergency braking procedures, emergency manoeuvres, motorcycles, the effects of drugs and alcohol, basic car maintenance and many other subjects will be addressed throughout the course.

ICBC requires students to meet both beginning and exiting competency checklists and have a completed driver experience log indicating a minimum of 60 hours experience prior to Road Test day.


We will always try our best to accomodate you when scheduling your road test.  The ICBC road test system has increasingly become busier and lead times longer so please be patient.
